The Hungarian Air Force was established in 1938 just before the war started. In 2008 the Magyar Honvédseg Repülö Csapatai celebrated the 70th anniversary. This year’s International Air Show & Military Exposition at Hungary’s main fighter base Kecskemét was held to celebrate this historical date for the Hungarian Military Aviation. 

Traditionally the Hungarian Air Show, Nemzetközi Repülönap at Kecskemet Air Base located between Danube and Theiss River took place every two years in the past but due to the 70^th anniversary of the Air Force and 160 years of Hungarian Armed Forces it was decided to organise this event after 2007 again in 2008. So the organizers of the Nemzetközi Repülönap 2008 did not have the time they used to have for organizing such a big event in the past, but managed it to arrange a fantastic Air Show with a highly interesting and varied flying program . . .
